SAM35 operates as a specialist body affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA), offering model aeroplane and model tethered car enthusiasts the chance to research, build and operate classic designs built in the classic way. However, SAM35 members do look both backwards and forwards – electric power for model aircraft is now very popular as a means of preserving precious flying sites through noise reduction, and pure Free-Flight models may nowadays incorporate a flight-ending feature courtesy of radio control simply to reduce the number of lost models and speed up competition rounds (no more searching for your model!)
